I have recently read an article about a teenager using social media to ask Google to give him a job. He upload a video "Google please hire me" on Youtube. Although Google didn't offer him a job at the end, he was given 80 interview opportunities by other companies. He joined a company which is called SigFig.
I found this quite interesting. As social media is not only used by companies, it can be used for marketing ourselves too. Will you ever try social media for jobs?
Thanks Mary - he's done a great job to market himself using social media. I love the way he's designed his website to look like a G+ page, with colours, headers, buttons all matching. I presume he's also spent a bit of money to "seed" this online, maybe with a PPC campaign somewhere - he claims to have invested $3000 in this effort. Probably only a small investment for a dream career!
I think it's a great idea, very clever. He clearly has a good understanding of social media and how innovative ideas will get you noticed. A lot of time and money has gone into this so I would imagine the same would need to be done by others looking to use this idea.
This is great, awesome character! Very creative and as with any SM campaign, company or individual, for it to work, you must offer the viewer something. In my view he did, humour. What a great idea. Good use of SM. @Craig, i wonder if future campaigns like this will work, or is it a once off novelty that will never be able to be repeated? I wonder! Great work Mary. Ross
