all you need is your smartphone
Korean do not have time to do their grocery shopping once a week. Tesco has launched virtual stores in the subway station in South Korea. The stores look exactly the same as the real one. However, each grocery items has a QR code. People only need to scan the QR code with their smartphones for the items they want to buy, then the items will be on their online shopping cart. They then pay by their phone and the items will be delivered to their home. Tesco boosts their online sales up to 130% and has been the first in Korea's online market.I found this quite interesting and I think it may also work in Australia as people may not have time to do their grocery shopping as well. What do you think?

I have seen this before, I love it!!!! if every consumer in Aus was like me, it would definitely work in Aus. Looking at the way my wife shops though, it wouldn't. She wants to be there so that she can choose the milk that expires on 31 December 2055 instead of 30 December 2055 because that extra day over so many years makes a really big difference in how fresh the product is. But I would say in general something like this has huge potential due to its value offering - convenience.

I still think this is an expensive gimmick, that isn't scalable. What does this achieve that you can't do on a website? It's just a fancy, expensive interactive billboard. It won't last.
ReplyDeleteOK - I feel better now! :)
Keep up the good work, Mary! :)
I think it is really a creative product. However, what I concern is to educate consumers to accept and use this product.
ReplyDeleteyeah !!! it is very interesting and innovative concept!! .. also, you know now more and more technology tends to NFC(Near Field Communication), which is more convenient that the code. But especially for the case, I think it decreases the customers' enjoyment during shopping though it save time for customers. Also, I am wondering how much will cost.
